Abstract

This study investigates the integration of community resilience into disaster risk management strategies for rural tourism villages in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, a region vulnerable to various natural disasters. Through qualitative analysis, this study identified the key challenges and opportunities in implementing community-based approaches. The findings emphasize the critical role of community resilience, the need to address scale discrepancies and resource limitations, and the potential for incorporating indigenous knowledge and fostering stakeholder collaboration. This study recommends comprehensive risk mapping, tailored programs, integration of local expertise, capacity building, and balancing adaptive community approaches with structured systems to enhance disaster resilience in vulnerable tourism areas
